What is Cervical Cancer?
Cervical Cancer is a type of cancer that develops in a woman’s cervix. It is often caused by certain high-risk types of the Human Papillomavirus (HPV). This common STI can be transmitted through vaginal, penile, anal and oral sexual contact.
Women are encouraged to get a PAP Smear every three years from the age of 25 to identify any cell abnormalities in the cervix.

How is Cervical Cancer treated?
Treatment for Cervical Cancer will depend on the stage of the infection you are at. At an early stage, surgery may be required to remove some of the womb, or radiotherapy, or a combination of the two. At a later stage, radiotherapy may be combined with chemotherapy, and surgery may also be needed.
Early detection is key with harmful diseases such as this, so it is vital that you get tested regularly.
