What is Gonorrhoea?
Gonorrhoea is a bacterial infection that is often transmitted through unprotected vaginal, anal and oral sexual contact. If left untreated, Gonorrhoea can result in more serious health complications, such as infertility, Pelvic Inflammatory Disease (PID) in women or Epididymitis in men.

How is Gonorrhoea treated?
Gonorrhoea is curable. Treatment usually involves a single antibiotic injection (normally in the buttocks or the thigh) followed by one antibiotic tablet. Attending a test-of-cure two weeks after treatment is usually recommended to ensure that you are completely clear of infection.
What else should I get tested for?
If your results come back negative but you remain symptomatic, or if you are worried about any other sexually transmitted diseases, then Better2Know provides a variety of screens and tests for a range of harmful infections.
Our most comprehensive screen is the Platinum Screen, which uses blood and urine samples to detect HIV, Chlamydia, Gonorrhoea, Syphilis, Herpes I & II, Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, Trichomonas, Mycoplasma and Gardnerella.
