How soon after a sexual encounter can I get tested?
The Early Platinum Screen has an incubation period of just 14 days, or two weeks. This is the length of time between the last incident you are concerned about and your test.
Which samples does the Early Platinum Screen require?
The Early Platinum Screen requires simple blood and urine samples. No uncomfortable swabs will need to be taken. There are no fasting requirements for this test or any other Better2Know test. You should be able to produce a urine sample at the time of your appointment, so we advise to avoid using the toilet during the two hours prior.
What happens at my appointment?
Testing with Better2Know is easy. At your confidential appointment, a trained clinician will collect the required samples for your test. Following this, your samples will be sent to our accredited laboratory for fast and accurate analysis.
When will my confidential results be available?
Your results will be available no longer than five working days after your sample arrives at our testing laboratory.
How will my results be reported?
You can track the progress of your results online in our website’s secure Patient Area. You will be able to log in using the unique PIN number provided with your booking confirmation. Once all your results are ready, a member of our Patient Services team will contact you by phone, email or SMS.
What if my screen is reactive?
In the case of a positive result, Better2Know will help you with the next stages. Many STIs can be cured by taking a course of medication. We can help you to access the prescription necessary to treat the infection. We will also arrange a doctor’s consultation as required. For certain STIs, we can perform confirmatory testing and/or refer you to a specialist.
