Which infections does the Female Swab test for?
- Bacterial infections
The Better2Know Female Swab is a culture test that can be included in any of our private screens. If you are unsure which test or screen you require, please get in touch with our trained sexual health advisors, who will be happy to advise.
How soon after a sexual encounter can I get tested?
For Better2Know’s Female Swab test no incubation period is necessary. It is particularly suitable for those experiencing symptoms of vaginitis, who have already eliminated the possibility that a sexually transmitted infection is the cause of their discomfort. Symptoms of a vaginal infection can include pain when urinating, unusual discharge, itching, or an unpleasant odour.
Which samples does the Female Swab require?
Our Female Swab is a culture test that requires a single swab sample to identify potential bacterial infections. There are no dietary requirements for this test, and there is no need to fast before your appointment.
What happens at my appointment?
Upon arrival at your private appointment, a qualified nurse or clinician will go through your test before taking your swab sample. They will then send your sample to our fully accredited, European laboratory for fast, accurate analysis.
When will my confidential results be available?
Your results will be available within four working days of your sample’s arrival at Better2Know’s certified laboratory.
How will my results be reported?
Our expert Patient Services team will contact you once all your results are ready to report, unless you specify otherwise. You will also have online access to your results through our secure patient area. This allows you to view your results at any time once they are available.
What if my screen is reactive?
Should your results return reactive, Better2Know’s trained advisors can schedule a private doctor’s consultation for you. Your doctor will discuss your diagnosis with you and provide a prescription for necessary medication. Alternatively, you may take your results to a doctor or sexual health provider of your choice.
