How soon after a sexual encounter can I get tested?
Better2Know’s Platinum Screen is suitable at 28 days after potential exposure to infection. If you would like to be tested even sooner, you may want to consider our Early Platinum Screen.
Which samples does the Platinum Screen require?
For this screen, only blood and urine samples are required. There are no uncomfortable or embarrassing swabs, and no fasting requirements. To ensure you can produce a urine sample at your private appointment, it is advisable to avoid urinating for at least two hours prior to testing.
What happens at my appointment?
At your private appointment, you will be seen promptly by a qualified clinician who will explain your test and take your blood and urine samples. Once collected, your samples are sent directly to a certified laboratory for swift and efficient analysis.
When will my confidential results be available?
You will receive the results for your Platinum Screen no more than five working days after your samples have arrived at our accredited laboratory.
How will my results be reported?
Results are reported to the secure Patient Area on our website, so you can check their progress online at any time. A member of Better2Know’s sexual health advisory team will also contact you when all your results are ready, unless you specify otherwise.
What if my screen is reactive?
If your Platinum Screen is reactive for any infection, we can arrange a private consultation with a Better2Know Doctor. Your Doctor will discuss your diagnosis and, depending on the infection you tested positive for, provide a prescription for the required medication.
If your screen is reactive for HIV, Syphilis, Hepatitis B or Hepatitis C, we will perform further, confirmatory testing of your blood sample at no additional cost. If necessary, we will also refer you to a specialist service. Should you wish, you can take your results to your personal doctor or sexual health provider.
